It’s lights, camera, action! as NGT48 has secured the location for their official theater in Niigata this weekend.

During the NGT48 press conference held at the Niigata Nippou Media Shop on May 24th NGT48 theater director Etsuro Imamura spilled the beans on the groups new home base. NGT48 Theater is set to open at the Lovela Bandai 2 which serves as one of the areas largest shopping centers and home to shops including Loft, Francfranc, H&M, Zara, Bershka, and Uni Qlo.

Imamura flanked by NGT48 Captain Rie Kitahara and newly acquired Draft Kaigi members Marina Nishigata and Yuka Ogino gestured to the big board as a video played for the approximately 1,100 guests and press invited to the event. The crowd cheered as the location was announced with Imamura following up “We had come to the decision for Bandai due to it’s accessibility, roughly 15-minutes from Niigata Station, and the facility serving as a focal point for citizens of all ages for this great city.”

Kitahara shares “I’m really happy to see so many of you out here today… the Lovela 2 has a lot of fashionable brands within it’s walls and we’re hoping that NGT48 can continue the trend.. maybe.” (crowd laughs) Nishigata chimes in “I’m glad to visit Niigata for the very first time. My first impression of Niigata was of rice fields, but I’m surprised to see such a bustling city with so many cool buildings.”

Imamura closed off the event by revealing that NGT48 has already seen 5,850 applicants for the first generation of NGT48. No word on when NGT48 Theater is due for completion.
